Hey Hoyas! Happy finals season. We’re almost at the end of the semester, but unfortunately, exams have only begun. Even though this can be a very stressful time on the Hilltop, there are plenty of ways to unwind and relax around campus. Make sure you take time for yourself. A working brain is a happy brain!

Sit outside on Healy/Copley Lawn

Spend some time outdoors, if weather permits, and sit on the lawn alone or with some friends. Fall on campus is one of the most beautiful seasons, and taking some time out of your day away from the library to go outside is always a great idea. Listen to music, read a book, play frisbee with a friend or just sit back and relax.

Go to an exercise class at Yates

Exercising can be a great way to relieve stress. Yates offers a variety of different exercise classes you can attend to sweat out some of your finals stress. Take different yoga, Zumba or Barre classes with your friends. An exercise class is a great study break and opportunity to move around a bit before you get back to studying.

Spend a night in with your roommate/s

End your work early one night and spend a night watching movies (preferably holiday movies) with your roommates. Get some snacks from Vittles or Snaxa and spend the night away from your books relaxing.

Take a study break on Lau 2 at Midnight Mug

Take a break from your work and head down to Lau 2 to stop at Midnight Mug, grab a snack and drink and chat with your friends. I personally do a lot of my work on Lau 4, so I always carve some time out of my study schedule to go down to Lau 2 to relax and talk to my friends for a bit. Staring at a computer screen for hours without speaking to anyone is far from ideal, make sure you add time into your schedule to spend time with friends, and take study breaks to avoid getting burnt out.

Go to a Georgetown sports game

Head to Capital One Arena or McDonough Arena and cheer for the men’s and women’s basketball teams! Bring your school spirit and step away from the books for a fun break.
Nothing is as relaxing as cheering on your fellow Hoyas!

Good luck on finals this semester, and remember to take study breaks and find time to unwind and relax. Self-care is super important during this time, so prioritizing yourself is absolutely crucial. You got this!
