Thinking Strategically About Ukraine’s Future Security
Join the Center for Eurasian, Russian and East European Studies (CERES) and the Center for Security Studies (CSS) for a conversation with Ukrainian scholar Volodymyr Dubovyk on the future of security in the country.
Russia’s massive ongoing invasion of Ukraine has attracted attention around the world. Even as this war is far from being over, the debate has begun as to whether it is possible to find a realistic and viable scenario or a model to provide for Ukraine’s security going forward. Dr. Dubovyk will make the case that this war is not an improvisation or sudden spasm, but something that was prepared for years in terms of Russia’s ideological transformation, economic development and military preparedness and that Russia therefore will remain a threat to Ukraine. Join him for a discussion of how formulas for Ukraine’s long term security will require a combination of external support, including cooperation with NATO, certain security guarantees, flow of the weapons, financial assistance, and increased domestic preparedness.
