Title: Georgetown Celebrates Staff with 20–55 Years of Service
Date Published: May 3, 2023
The annual Service Awards Ceremonies had been celebrated virtually since 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
President John J. DeGioia and Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer Tony Kinslow hosted the ceremony, and executive vice presidents from each campus as well as the university’s chief operating officer were also present to congratulate staff.
John Matthews, a recently retired HVAC mechanic in Facilities Management, received a special award acknowledging his 55 years of service.
“Being at Georgetown to me has been an adventurous experience,” he said in an impromptu speech. “To me, it wasn’t a job, it was something that I enjoyed doing.”
