ECo Talks: Data-Centric Methods for Sustainable and Resilient Infrastructure and Communities with Roshanak Nateghi
Roshanak Nateghi, Associate Professor of Industrial Engineering and the director of the Laboratory for Advancing Sustainable Critical Infrastructure at Purdue University, will present her talk, “Data-Centric Methods for Sustainable and Resilient Infrastructure and Communities,” as part of the ECo Talks series produced by the Earth Commons.
About the Speaker: Roshanak Nateghi, Associate Professor of Industrial Engineering and the director of the Laboratory for Advancing Sustainable Critical Infrastructure at Purdue University, is recognized for her contributions to interdisciplinary research. She also serves as a Councilor at the International Society for Risk Analysis and holds the position of Area Editor for the Mathematical Modeling and Machine Learning track in the Journal of Risk Analysis. Nateghi’s research is dedicated to advancing the sustainability and resilience of critical infrastructure in the face of climate change challenges.
Currently, Roshanak Nateghi is on leave from Purdue University to fulfill a AAAS Science, Technology, and Policy Fellow role within the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy.
About the Talk: The foundation of secure, sustainable, and healthy societies lies in reliable and equitable access to essential services such as energy and water. However, aging U.S. infrastructure faces growing climate risks, leading to widespread disruptions, economic losses in the billions, and unequal burdens on communities. This talk will delve into Dr. Nateghi’s interdisciplinary research that uses data-driven and physics-aware methods to develop and validate accurate predictive risk models to inform sustainability and resilience investment decisions.
