Plantations And Prisons: A History Of Forced Labor in Louisiana (Documentary Screening)
At Louisiana State Penitentiary, a former plantation known as Angola, people are forced to do degrading, humiliating, and dangerous work similar to their enslaved ancestors.
The Promise of Justice Initiative’s (PJI) End Plantation Prisons campaign is an effort to break the link between antebellum slavery and prison today and to stop the commodification of people.
Please join the O’Neill Institute and PJI for a special screening of PJI’s documentary, “Plantations And Prisons, A History Of Forced Labor in Louisiana.” The screening will be followed by an intimate discussion with the film director and the people featured in the film.
