In a preview to her new course, “Borders, Power, and Security,” Professor Cloud will lead a discussion of what her agency, Customs and Border Protection, manages at the U.S. border (hint: it’s more than just migration) and present a framework for discussing threats and opportunities at borders around the world.

About the Speaker
Amy Cloud is a seasoned diplomat with over 15 years of experience in government administration, specializing in border security, trade promotion, and travel facilitation. Her career includes a prominent role as Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Attaché in Bogota and Deputy Attaché Mexico City, where she adeptly managed international relationships and advanced U.S. border security objectives. Amy developed a course on border security while serving as visiting faculty at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy where she taught cadets of all majors in the Government department. She holds a Master’s degree in International Economics and Law from Johns Hopkins SAIS and a Bachelor’s in International Relations from William & Mary. Amy is known for her expertise in public speaking and her ability to navigate complex global issues effectively.
