Green Colonialism in Palestine and the Arab World
Join the Center for Contemporary Arab Studies for a lecture by Dr. Hamza Hamouchene, a London-based Algerian researcher-activist and commentator, where he will discuss extractivism, the ecological and climate crises in the Arab region, as well as the practices of green colonialism. He will reflect on just transition, technology transfer, and other possible alternatives to the current status quo.
Dr. Hamouchene will also explore how Palestinian liberation is fundamentally a climate justice issue and quintessentially a struggle against US-led empire and global fossil capitalism.
This lecture will be in the context of the CCAS graduate class Critical, Environmental and Human Security taught by Professor Marwa Daoudy. Dr. Daoudy will moderate the event.
