Reflets d’Histoire – A Conversation with Ibrahima Thiam and Binkady-Emmanuel Hié
Everyone is warmly invited to attend Reflets d’Histoire, taking place on Tuesday, November 12, at 3:30 PM in the McCarthy Room (ICC425). This conversation will feature Ibrahima Thiam, a photographer from Dakar, Senegal, and Binkady-Emmanuel Hié, author of Visibles! Figures noires de l’Histoire de France and founder of the Agence Norme in Paris. Our speakers, from diverse backgrounds, will explore questions of visibility and representation (or silence) related to Black history in the Francophone (post)colonial context. Their presentations will be followed by a discussion with Prof. Johann Le Guelte (French and Francophone Studies) and a Q&A session. This event, conducted entirely in French, will take place within the photographic exhibition Portrait Vintage, presented by Thiam at Georgetown.
This conversation is organized by the Department of French and Francophone Studies and the Gender+Justice Initiative.
