Songs of Love From Hawai’i: K-Culture Through Diaspora, Music, and History
Please join us for a screening of Songs of Love from Hawaii, a musical drama film that weaves three compelling stories from Hawaii’s Korean Diaspora. The screening will be followed by a discussion with Director Jinyoung Lee.
About the Director
Jinyoung Lee is a critically acclaimed Korean filmmaker, writer, and journalist. She received the Best Debut Filmmaker Award from the Tagore International Film Festival (2021) and the Liberty International Movie Festival (2021). Lee earned her degree in Journalism and Multimedia from Ewha Womans University in Seoul, Korea. Since her relocation to Hawaiʻi in 2005, she seamlessly transitioned from journalism to cinema, leveraging her extensive background in Korean media. Beyond filmmaking, she passionately contributes to her community orchestra as a dedicated cellist and serves on the board of the Hawaiʻi Symphony Orchestra.
