Category: Messages to President DeGioia

While I am saddened by the new that you will be stepping down as President to more fully focus on your ongoing recovery, I am warmed and honored to have experienced your tremendous leadership, guidance and support in many areas of the University comunity and globaally. I have been personally touched by your leadership in such areas as the Black Alumni Council, the Office of IDEAA and your support of the University’s committment to inclusion, equity, and belonging, my role in IDEAA and encouragement to be engaged in the Jesuit 19th Annotations. Your leadership and support have allowed me to find the space to be fully engaged and present in all facets of the university as an alum, parent of an alum and staff member. I wish you ongoing prayers for your recovery, the deepest gratitude and mcuh respect for guiding us the last 23 years. Finally, prayers and best wishes to Theresa and JT as they engage with you in more family time and once recovered- an opportunity to enjoy other passions and pursuits.

Warmly,
Michael W Smith, (C ’78, P ’11, Staff 1996-2020)
