Opening Reception for Spring 2025 Exhibitions | Georgetown University Art Galleries
Please join the Georgetown University Art Galleries for the Opening Reception on Friday, January 17, 2025, in celebration of two rich and evocative student-curated exhibitions.
Hung Liu: Happy & Gay
Maria & Alberto de la Cruz Art Gallery
This exhibition will feature works from Hung Liu’s Happy & Gay series (2011–2012), based on Maoist propaganda cartoons from the 1950s and 1960s. Reimagined by Liu, these works critically engage with themes of family, labor, and identity. Curated by graduate students from Dr. Dorothy Moss’s Art History/Museum Studies seminar.
& Loving: Photography from the Georgetown Collection
Lucille M. & Richard F.X. Spagnuolo Art Gallery
Curated by Prof. Ian Bourland’s class, this exhibition features Photography from Georgetown University’s Special Collections, presenting perspectives from the 20th century. The featured works range from capturing intimate moments to cultural events, exploring the shared humanity that connects us all.
