Overview
This page provides information about Georgetown University’s well-being resources accessible in person or remotely via telehealth.
For Students
Student Health Center (SHC)
SHC can help direct all students – regardless of their location – to appropriate care.
- The SHC offers both in-person and virtual visits for students in the Washington, DC, area and offers virtual services to students living outside of the DC area (as allowed based on location and licensing regulations).
- If you need an appointment or would like to speak with a nurse or provider, please call the Student Health Center at 202-687-2200 or send a message through the MedStar portal, and we will determine the best way to meet your needs.
- Along with routine primary care, SHC is providing COVID-19 testing to symptomatic students and providing care to students with COVID-19 concerns and symptoms.
- For after-hours urgent medical concerns, call the page operator at 202-444-PAGE (7243) and ask for the Student Health Center provider on call.
Counseling and Psychiatric Service (CAPS)
Ongoing telehealth services are available to students located in DC, Maryland and Virginia, as well as other states where our clinicians’ licenses are valid. If CAPS is unable to provide services in the state where you are currently located, they will work to help you find local assistance in your home area.
- To make a free appointment, call 202-687-6985 during business hours (Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.).
- For mental health emergencies after hours, call 202-687-6985, through which a menu of options can direct you to our emergency consultation line.
- Participate in virtual support groups and interpersonal process groups and workshops.
- Students can make appointments directly by phone or email with a number of community mental health providers focused on serving traditionally marginalized or underserved communities, particularly women and femmes of color who have experienced sexual assault, harassment or violence and those who have experienced racial trauma. Black Survivor Clinicians services continue to be free and available during this and the upcoming 2024 to 2025 academic year.
- Georgetown Law students interested in seeking mental health support and resources from CAPS can find more information on the Law Center’s website.
