Title: “Diverse, Gifted and Resilient”

As a freshman entering Georgetown University in 2018, the Class of 2020 made up many of the leaders I saw and interacted with on campus. Be it as TAs, organizers in clubs, or mentors from freshman orientation, the juniors were incredibly demonstrative to me of the Georgetown community in my first few months. As I entered my sophomore year, those familiar faces became seniors who were each thinking about their futures away from the hilltop. But it was evident that even while juggling questions about jobs and graduate schools, the Class of 2020 was still so present in the community—ever dedicated to their academic programs and extracurriculars on-campus. The Class of 2020 deserved the full Georgetown experience and I am truly sorry they lost the many happy memories that March, April, and May should have brought them. However, I know this diverse collection of students are an incredibly gifted group who will grow more resilient through the immediate and lasting challenges of this pandemic. I wish the very best for each of them as they transition away from the hilltop knowing that when the time is right, the Georgetown community will welcome the Class of 2020 back to campus just as they welcomed me in the Fall of 2020. Hoya saxa!
