Title: “May the Georgetown Ideals of Love, Fellowship and Curiosity Guide You”

I am an anesthesiologist, graduating from Georgetown Med in 1993, and although very tired right now, I feel compelled to write. Many people will seek to diminish the idea that you have suffered a loss. That it is distasteful in the grand scheme of things at present to entertain this notion. It is not a competition, sacrifice is sacrifice. I am someone who has always felt social capital is part of a great education, I am truly sorry for your lost Senior Week activities. Hopefully, the awareness that what was once assumed and promised can disappear in an instant will inspire you to define what social means to you. Where do you want to be when we reconvene as an intact society?

You have, without asking, been given a whole new world as a graduation gift. May the Georgetown ideals of love, fellowship and curiosity guide you to a new, happy normal. Congratulations of your degrees and remember the fact that you got to spend happy times at Georgetown. These are no small things. As a State Alumni Chair, I hope you come visit us. You have earned a free drink for life from every older Alumnist who identifies you as a member of the Class of 2020! Best wishes for continued personal and professional success
