Title: “We Are Applauding You”

When I graduated in 1977, it was the first time my family had ever been to campus. It was a profoundly special and celebratory weekend for us all. I want the same for each of you. Please share photos of your time at Georgetown with your family and friends as a way of celebrating. And, remember that you don’t need a formal ceremony to be the class of 2020 and to be forever known as such. You all are so much smarter, more engaged with your communities; multi-talented, and forward looking than we were. YOU will lead us forward forever changed by this crisis and more creative, resilient, and inventive than we thought possible. Know that we — all of the alumni who have come before you — are applauding you as you start your next chapter. Congratulations!
