The current associate vice president of financial operations at George Washington University will join Georgetown next month as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
David B. Green, who has served in several financial leadership roles at George Washington since 2001, in his new role will support Georgetown’s goals by providing financial services and strategies that enhance the academic and research experience of faculty, students and staff.
Green will be responsible for managing all central financial functions, including accounting and financial reporting, budgeting and planning, the long-term debt portfolio and treasury services.
“We are very pleased to welcome David to our team,” says Geoffrey Chatas (C’85), senior vice president and chief operating officer. “His extensive experience in higher education and his success in safeguarding and enhancing financial resources make him an ideal candidate to help our university fulfill its mission of teaching, research, scholarship and service.”
Green replaces David Rubenstein, who is retiring this month after nearly 15 years at Georgetown.
A Certified Public Accountant, Green attended Bishop O’Connell High School in Arlington, Virginia, and earned his bachelor’s degree in business at Virginia Wesleyan University.
He received his MBA from George Washington in 2005.
Green says he has for many years admired Georgetown and welcomes the chance to join the community.
“Having spent the last 17 years working in higher education,” he says, “I have watched Georgetown continue to grow into one of the world’s leading academic and research institutions while maintaining its commitment to educating its students to live generously in service to others.”
“It is a great honor to join Georgetown and I am looking forward to helping advance the university’s mission.”
Green lives with his wife, Therese, and their four children in Ashburn, Virginia.
All four children attend St. Theresa Catholic School, where their mother is the school’s technology instructor.
