(WASHINGTON – October 16, 2020) – New York resident Rosemary T. Berkery (P’15, Regent) has been appointed to Georgetown University’s Board of Directors. Rosemary will serve a three-year term, beginning at Georgetown’s fall board meeting – held virtually this past week on October 7-8th.
“We are very pleased to welcome Rosemary T. Berkery to the Georgetown University board,” said Georgetown University President John J. DeGioia. “Rosemary’s leadership, vision and experience will strengthen and shape the future of the University.”
Rosemary T. Berkery was Vice Chair of UBS Wealth Management Americas from 2010 to 2018, serving as Chair and CEO of UBS Bank USA. In building a wealth management bank to serve the banking needs of the firm’s high net worth and ultra-high net worth clients, Ms. Berkery and her team grew the deposit base from $20B to approximately $50B over a 5-year period; nearly tripled the securities-based loan book; and built both a mortgage business and a credit card business from scratch. Berkery built the bank from a small, single product-line entity, into a prominent, more sophisticated bank with a variety of services and products highly-valued by the firm’s advisors and clients.
Prior to joining UBS, Ms. Berkery had a 25-year career at Merrill Lynch, during which she held a variety of executive leadership positions, including Vice Chair, EVP and General Counsel; Executive Head of the firm’s Private Client Strategy, Products and Marketing Group; and CoHead of the Global Securities Research and Economics Group, one of the top research franchises in the world. Before joining Merrill Lynch, Rosemary had been an M&A lawyer at Shearman & Sterling.
In 2018, The American Banker awarded Rosemary its “Lifetime Achievement Award.” She was also recognized by Fortune as one of “5 Women to Watch” and was profiled by the Financial Times in an article entitled “Rosemary Berkery: Wall Street’s Woman of Influence.”
Rosemary currently serves as a member of the Boards of Directors of The TJX Companies, Inc.; Fluor Corporation; and Mutual of America. She is also passionate about her philanthropic activities, particularly those in the education and organ transplant fields, serving on the Board of Regents of Georgetown University from 2017 to present; the Georgetown College Board of Advisors from 2011 to 2017; Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York; The School of American Ballet; Regis High School; and OPTN/UNOS (the national organ transplant organization).
Rosemary and her husband, Robert Hausen, live in New York with their son Bobby (C’15).
