Georgetown celebrated the life and legacy of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. while presenting its 2014 John Thompson Jr. Legacy of a Dream Award to Lecester Johnson during the Let Freedom Ring musical celebration at the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts on Jan. 20.
Georgetown students, faculty and staff joined members of the Washington, D.C. community to perform in the Let Freedom Ring Choir and solos with five-time Grammy Award winner Dionne Warwick. Dancers from Georgetown’s Black Movements Dance Theatre and Washington, D.C.’s Black Pearl Dance Theatre performed pieces choreographed by Georgetown faculty member Alfreda Davis.
