“I am enthused about the arrival of Dr. Kathryn Castle. She brings tremendous experience and expertise to our senior team in Student Affairs, and she is highly motivated to strengthen and lead our critical work in assuring student health and well-being,” says Todd Olson, vice president of student affairs.
Castle currently is psychology chief and a professor of clinical psychiatry at the University of Rochester Medical Center. She also serves as assistant dean for student affairs at Rochester’s School of Medicine.
She also is the director of adult ambulatory services that comprises the General Ambulatory Service, Lazos Fuertes – health care services for Spanish-speaking families – and the Deaf Wellness Clinic at the Rochester Medical Center.
“Her experience as a student affairs administrator, in medical settings, in psychology education, and as a clinician is truly impressive,” Olson adds. “I know Dr. Castle will be a great asset to our students, our Student Affairs team, and the university.”
Castle received her bachelor’s degree from Spelman College and her master’s and doctoral degrees in clinical psychology from DePaul University in Chicago. She was a Leadership in Adolescent Health Fellow and a National Services Research Award Fellow in the Department of Psychiatry after graduating from DePaul.
“I am elated to be joining the Georgetown family. I look forward to collaborating with all student health stakeholders at Georgetown, and to using my experiences and skills to lead an incredible team of professionals,” the new administrator says. “I believe that together we can improve services and identify and implement innovative mental health and health resources that will allow students several ways to engage in care.”
