Dear Members of the Georgetown University Community,
I write today to share my optimism about vaccination efforts nationally and locally and to ask that all members of our community submit documentation of their COVID-19 vaccination (e.g., CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card) through our new GU360 mobile app or website. Please follow these instructions to submit your documentation. If you’ve already shared it with the Care Navigator team, you do not need to submit it again through GU360.
As President DeGioia shared in his April 14 message, we will require all undergraduate, graduate and professional students to be fully immunized prior to the Fall 2021 semester. We will continue to provide additional details related to this requirement as they become available.
We’re also inviting faculty and staff to submit their vaccination documentation now, though it’s not currently required. As President DeGioia shared, we’re closely reviewing whether we will require faculty and staff to be vaccinated.
Summer 2021 COVID-19 Testing Protocol
We have developed a Summer 2021 COVID-19 Testing Protocol for fully vaccinated students, faculty and staff who have access to campus, beginning on June 1 and in effect through August 1, 2021. Individuals are considered fully vaccinated 14 days after receiving the final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine. We will provide guidance on the COVID-19 testing protocol for Fall 2021 over the summer.
This summer, fully vaccinated students will get tested once a week, and fully vaccinated faculty and staff will get tested once a month, with the exception of fully vaccinated child care personnel, who will get tested once a week. In order to participate in this testing protocol, you must submit your COVID-19 vaccination documentation through GU360.
If you haven’t been fully vaccinated, you must continue to adhere to the current COVID-19 Testing Protocol.
Our Care Navigator team will continue to instruct any individuals who have symptoms of COVID-19 or who have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 to get tested, as needed.
Guidelines for Fully Vaccinated People
We continue to review the University’s public health guidelines and will revise them for fully vaccinated people, as needed. We will provide updates as they become available.
DC has not updated its mask guidelines yet, and the University still requires all individuals, regardless of vaccination status, to wear a mask on campus, indoors and outdoors, except when in a private room, office or personal residence without guests, or when eating with appropriate physical distancing.
Vaccination Opportunities
If you haven’t been vaccinated yet, I strongly encourage you to get vaccinated at your earliest opportunity with whichever vaccine is available. You can find an appointment near you, anywhere in the United States, on the Vaccines.gov website. Appointments are currently available within a one-mile radius of the Main Campus and Law Center, including at local CVS and Walgreens pharmacies.
In addition, beginning on Saturday, May 1, DC will transition to the use of 11 high-capacity, walk-up vaccination sites, where no appointment is needed.
We’re also working with our partners at MedStar Health and the DC Department of Health to offer vaccination on campus in the near future. We will provide additional information soon.
