Virtual Community Dance Class: Ballet Barre (ALL LEVELS)
Taught by Prof. Raina Lucas
Taught by Department of Performing Arts faculty member and GU Dance Company Faculty Artistic Director, Prof. Raina Lucas, this virtual ballet barre class is perfect for small spaces. The one-hour class is designed for all levels (including beginners!) and provides participants with an opportunity to move and learn about functional ballet training. Participants can wear athletic clothing suitable for movement and are asked to consider the surface of wherever they choose to take class when deciding on footwear (for example– some floor surfaces are too slippery for socks). Ballet slippers are not required. Participants should use a sturdy chair, countertop, or wall for support when practicing ballet exercises. At the end of the class, participants will practice a couple of exercises from the “barre” in the center to test balance and stability.
Special Note: Participants may choose to take class with their cameras on or off. This session will be recorded for archival purposes.
Can’t attend class? Be on the lookout for additional community dance classes throughout the 2021-2022 academic year.
FREE, and open to the public for participation, with RSVP REQUIRED: Please RSVP at least 1 hour in advance of the class starting by emailing Prof. Raina Lucas at rl1041@georgetown.edu.
Following RSVP, you will receive a confirmation email with Zoom link.
