Hey Hoyas! Although it’s been a little warmer than it usually is this time of year, it’s officially Sweater Weather!
Living in DC has its many perks, and one of them is getting to see some of the many tourist attractions while the leaves are changing color, the weather is getting a little colder, and the sights are getting even prettier as the days go by.
Here are some of the top Instagram-worthy hotspots in DC that are sure to get you a ton of likes this Fall season!
1. Tidal Basin
The Tidal Basin is usually a hit among tourists during the Spring when the Cherry Blossoms are out, but the Autumn is still an ideal time to see the Jefferson Memorial and walk along the Basin in the Fall.
How to get there? Walk along the Georgetown Waterfront, past the Kennedy Center and the Lincoln Memorial. Or take the Rosslyn GUTS Bus to Rosslyn Station, and then ride either the Blue, Orange, or Silver Metro lines to Smithsonian Station.
2. Capitol Hill
While some of you might only frequent Capitol Hill because of an internship or a club commitment, it’s one of the nicest architectural landmarks in the DC area! On top of being a symbol of American democracy, it’s a really nice sight to appreciate in the Autumn time!
How to get there? Take the Rosslyn GUTS Bus to Rosslyn Station, and then ride either the Blue, Orange, or Silver Metro lines to Federal Center SW Station. You could also take the Dupont Circle GUTS Bus to Dupont Circle Station, and ride the Red Line to Union Station and walk to the Capitol.
3. Georgetown Waterfront
The Georgetown Waterfront is always a great place to head to when you need a mini-break from being on campus. It’s especially nice in the Fall when the leaves begin changing colors! You get a great view of Virginia, the Kennedy Center, and you get a chance to do some plane-watching in the morning. If you get up early enough, you can even check out First Bake like I did recently!
How to get there? Walk down M Street and turn right on Wisconsin Avenue.
4. National Mall
Although the National Mall might have been the very first tourist attraction you saw when you first arrived at Georgetown, the Mall is always a hot spot for getting out of the Georgetown Bubble!
How to get there? Walk along the Waterfront and past the Kennedy Center to reach the Lincoln Memorial, which is the start of the Mall. Or, take the Rosslyn GUTS Bus to Rosslyn Station, and then ride either the Blue, Orange, or Silver Metro lines to Smithsonian Station.
5. Healy Hall
Healy Hall is the iconic Georgetown building that is on all the brochures and introductory videos to Georgetown. While it has been on the cover photo of every Georgetown student’s Facebook profile at one point or another, the building still is a sight that is unparalleled in the beauty of Autumn!
How to get there? Walk to the front of campus towards the front gates!
