It’s the middle of the semester, which means Georgetown is gradually entering midterm season! In the spirit of breaking the Georgetown bubble once in awhile, here are a few cities you could visit if you want to make the most out of being on the East Coast (especially for those of you who are not from the area originally)!

1. New York City!

New York is one of the largest cities in the world that Hoyas have easy access to from DC! If you look at the right time, bus tickets are as low as $1 and train tickets are around $49, too! Try getting a group of friends together to split the cost of an Airbnb, and be sure to take advantage of the many different food options, especially the food trucks!

The city is full of many tourist attractions, like the MOMA and Central Park. No matter what your interests are, you will surely find a part of the city that you really enjoy!

2. Boston!

Boston is a great city that should bring back memories from your high school US history class. The city has many museums and historical sites like the Boston Freedom Trail, which encompasses the Boston Commons, Paul Revere House, and the site of the Boston Massacre. For the foodies out there, be sure to check out the Faneuil Hall Marketplace for its wide selection of food options! The trip to Boston is a bit longer, making a bus ride a less attractive option. However, train tickets are usually $79 each way!

3. Philadelphia!

Philadelphia has a ton of national icons that merit a visit from Hoyas, especially being so close to DC! For the history-buffs out there, Independence Hall is an awesome place to check out during the day, given how it was the birthplace of the US Constitution. Be sure to check out the Reading Terminal Market for the country’s oldest farmer’s market, too! Bus tickets to the City of Brotherly Love can be as low as $5 if you look at the right time.

Happy travels!
