Dear Students,
We have been responding to a number of reports of students who live on campus using neighborhood residential addresses for food/beverage delivery and rideshare pick-up. A number of incidents have been disruptive for elderly and mobility-imparied neighbors late into the night.
Please be aware that deliveries made to private neighborhood residences that are not affiliated with the person placing the order may be confiscated and students will incur disciplinary action via the Student Conduct Process.
Students living on the north-side of campus in particular have provided helpful feedback about the impacts of MedStar Hospital Construction on road access near their residence halls, and we are working to identify a longer-term solution to increase access.
In the meantime, please consider the following reminders/tips:
- Deliveries and rideshares are always accessible at the Georgetown University front gates at 37th and O St NW.
- If you would like to utilize a location closer to your residence hall than the front gate, only drop a pin or use the address of a university-affiliated location.
- Most food ordering and delivery apps allow you to include delivery instructions when placing your order. It is helpful to give instructions, for example, to “please call me when you are 5 minutes away” so you know when to travel to your delivery location. If you’re meeting them outside the front gates, please specify this in your delivery instructions. If you’ve dropped a pin, please give them helpful information for where to find you.
- Plan to meet your delivery driver upon their arrival at the delivery location. Most apps allow you to track your delivery driver’s location. This will prevent a delay in you receiving your order and avoid delivery drivers having to leave their vehicle to attempt locating you.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding on this important matter.
