Presentation: “Metabolic Heterogeneity in Colorectal Cancer”
Abstract:
Metabolomics research in cancer has faced low reproducibility due to complex tumor profiles varying between individuals, that are influenced by genetic, immune, hormonal, and microbial factors. These differences create distinct metabolic subtypes and better understanding of the molecular makeup of these subtypes can open new treatment avenues and provide insights into disease progression. This presentation will explore how metabolomics can improve subtype identification, considering patient and tumor characteristics, and emphasize the role of sex-specific factors in regulating key metabolic pathways driving tumor growth.
