Title & Abstract:

“The Complicity of Professionals in the Holocaust”

My presentation will focus on the role that professionals and, in particular, lawyers played in enabling the Holocaust, as well as their complicity in promoting antisemitic discrimination during the years of Nazi domination. I will highlight those aspects of the persecution of the Jews by Nazis and their collaborators that led to the exclusion of Jews from the professions, that provided an acquiescence to their deportation to extermination camps, and, by acts of both commission and omission, to making the Holocaust the unique crime that it was.
