Douglass Day 2024: Transcribe-a-thon Featuring the Correspondence of Frederick Douglass from the Library of Congress
Join the Center for the Study of Slavery and Its Legacies to commemorate Douglass Day, an annual program that marks the birth of Frederick Douglass. Although Douglass never knew his birthdate, he chose to celebrate every year on February 14th.
This year’s Douglass Day will feature the general correspondence of Frederick Douglass from the Library of Congress. We will be one part of simultaneous events across various communities and organizations, coming together virtually to attempt to transcribe all 8,731 pages in one day!
Please bring a laptop to participate in the transcription activity, if possible.
Lunch will be provided.
Please RSVP if you plan to attend.
