ECo Talks: Gendered Responses to Climate Change and the Well-Being of Girls and Women with Amanda Carrico
Amanda Carrico, Associate Professor of Environmental Studies at the University of Colorado, Boulder, will present her talk, ” Gendered Responses to Climate Change and the Well-Being of Girls and Women,” as part of the ECo Talks series produced by the Earth Commons.
About the Speaker:
Dr. Carrico is an Associate Professor of Environmental Studies at the University of Colorado, Boulder. Trained as an environmental psychologist, Dr. Carrico’s research seeks to understand the social and psychological conditions that lead to pro-environmental action and policy support. In a second line of work, her research group is examining behavioral responses to climate stress with an emphasis on migration and livelihood adaptations. Her research has been funded by the US National Science Foundation, the Office of Naval Research, and the City of Boulder. Dr. Carrico has led several international efforts to assess the impacts of and responses to environmental change in agricultural communities. This includes the Bangladesh Environment and Migration Survey (BEMS), which collects sociodemographic data about migration, livelihood activities, and climate stress in coastal Bangladesh. Dr. Carrico is also Deputy Editor at the journal Climatic Change where she oversees a team of editors that handle manuscripts in the behavioral and psychological sciences.
