Sports and Statecraft: A Conversation with Paralympian Aimee Mullins (SFS’98) and Dr. Victor Cha
Join SFS for a conversation about sports diplomacy and the upcoming 2022 Winter Olympics with Paralympian Aimee Mullins (SFS’98) and SFS professor Dr. Victor D. Cha.
In the lead up to the XXIV Olympic Winter Games, which open on February 4 in Beijing, news headlines have been dominated not by medal prospects and new events but by the Biden administration’s diplomatic boycott of the games, concerns about Chinese Communist Party propaganda and surveillance operations and the IOC’s decision to hold the games in China again.
In this SFS event, athlete Aimee Mullins and sports diplomacy expert Victor D. Cha will explore the global politics of sport and assess how Beijing 2022 will impact global affairs. The conversation will also provide the audience with an opportunity to hear Mullins’s personal insights, as she shares how international relations impacted her own experience as a Paralympian representing the United States. The discussion will be moderated by SFS Executive Director of External Relations and Marketing Marie Harf.
This event will be hosted via Zoom webinar for those with a Georgetown email address. All others can join the event via Facebook livestream.
