Georgetown Presidential Search

Georgetown’s board of directors is engaged in the important task of selecting the university’s next president. The board has formed a presidential search committee, which will solicit input from members of the Georgetown community on the qualities we should seek in our future president. We plan to have a leader in place by July 1, 2026, and we will provide updates on this page along the way.

Who We’re Looking For

Our board of directors has articulated that the future president will implement the university’s vision for excellence; sustain our strong Catholic and Jesuit identity; foster a sense of community, shared purpose and collaboration among our faculty, staff, students and alumni; and ensure Georgetown continues its leadership in higher education on a national and global level, among other priorities.

The board has retained the internationally recognized search firm Isaacson, Miller to work with them to manage the search process. Isaacson, Miller has been involved in numerous and successful academic searches across higher education, including at multiple Jesuit colleges and universities, and has been engaged on other searches at Georgetown.

Any inquiries, nominations, referrals and applications should be submitted to Isaacson, Miller. Electronic submissions are highly encouraged.

Timeline

In the coming weeks, the search committee, along with the search firm Isaacson, Miller, will hold listening sessions for members of the Georgetown community. Our community’s input will help inform the search process.

Listening sessions will take place over the next two months. Over the next year, the search committee, with support from Isaacson, Miller, will work to recruit and review candidates for the position.

A new president will be in place at Georgetown no later than July 1, 2026.
