Title: 4 Tips for Attending Your First Georgetown Basketball Game

1. Wear Gray

The members of Hoya Blue, Georgetown’s official student spirit organization, make up a large portion of the seats in the Verizon Center’s student section. When they aren’t dressed up in costumes or decked out in navy body paint, these students all don the same gray Hoya Hoops Club t-shirts (available to any season ticket holder). Don’t have the tee? Any form of Georgetown apparel will do.

2. Do it for the Dance Cam

During random time outs, it’s not unusual to earn some screen time on the jumbotron via the Dance Cam. Whether they’re blaring “Gangnam Style”, “Shake It Off”, “Uptown Funk” or another upbeat go-to, the student section always goes crazy in an attempt to earn their five minutes of Verizon Center fame.

3. Support your fellow Hoyas

Don’t lose sight of the fact that once the buzzer sounds and the game ends, the superstar athletes you just spent two hours rooting for are likely going back to their Village As to work on their homework for the next day, just like you. Make sure our athletes – as well as our hardworking pep band and cheerleaders, cough cough – know how much you appreciate the time they put into representing the Hoyas on the court!

4. Stay in the Loop

Can’t make it to every game? We still expect you to know the outcome – or else risk having nothing to talk about at Leo’s the next day.
