United States government officials and Afghan leaders explored the ongoing Afghan peace process at an event on campus yesterday hosted by the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security.
Roya Rahmani, Afghan ambassador to the United States, emphasized the role of Afghan women in the ongoing U.S.-Taliban and intra-Afghan talks.
“Women’s participation in all of this is imperative,” Rahmani said. “Promoting their rights and ensuring their participation is not only an ethical obligation – but also a national security imperative.”
