Title: Celebrating Black History Month

During the month of February, Georgetown University joins the nation in commemorating Black History Month. We invite you to learn more about Black history and culture at Georgetown and engage in events recognizing Black History Month.

We celebrate the many contributions of our Black students, faculty, staff and alumni to our university community and broader society, and recognize the diverse scholarship and teachings that advance Black heritage and history.

Georgetown faculty advance teaching and scholarship on Black history and heritage in a range of fields and interdisciplinary efforts, particularly the Department of African American Studies. The Racial Justice Institute, among other programs, fosters national conversations on these important issues vital to the fabric of our country.

Student groups, including Georgetown University Mosaic, the Black Student Alliance, GU Women of Color and others celebrate Black history in a range of events across campus.

We encourage you to check back on the Black History Month events and “Celebrating Black History and Culture at Georgetown” pages for updates throughout this important month.
