Speakers Include CBS Evening News Anchor, CNN Medical Chief, WTO Leader and Federal Reserve Chair
Georgetown University will hold Commencement ceremonies for the Class of 2024 on the weekend of May 16-19. Each of the undergraduate and professional schools at the University will hold its own ceremony featuring different marquee speakers, including (in alphabetical order):
- Dr. Toyin Ajayi, co-founder and CEO, Cityblock Health (School of Health)
- Mohammad Al Gergawi, minister of cabinet affairs, United Arab Emirates (McDonough School of Business: graduate ceremony)
- Dr. Sanjay Gupta, chief medical correspondent and host of “Chasing Life,” CNN (School of Medicine)
- Philip J. Hirschkop (L’64), civil rights lawyer (Georgetown Law)
- Most Rev. Evelio Menjivar-Ayala, Auxiliary Bishop of Washington (College of Arts & Sciences)
- Ann Misiaszek Sarnoff (B’83), board member: PayPal, Cineworld and WTA Ventures; former chair and CEO, Warner Bros. Entertainment (McDonough School of Business: undergraduate ceremony)
- Norah O’Donnell (C’95, G’03), anchor and managing editor, CBS Evening News (School of Continuing Studies)
- Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, director-general, World Trade Organization (Walsh School of Foreign Service: undergraduate ceremony and graduate ceremony)
- Todd Park, co-founder and executive chairman, Devoted Health; former U.S. CTO (McCourt School of Public Policy)
- Imani Perry, Henry A. Morss, Jr. and Elisabeth W. Morss Professor of Studies of Women, Gender and Sexuality and of African and African American Studies, and Carol K. Pforzheimer Professor, Harvard Radcliffe Institute (Graduate School of Arts & Sciences)
- Dr. Patricia Polgar-Bailey, family nurse practitioner and integrative care provider (School of Nursing)
- Jerome H. Powell (L’79), chair of the board of governors, Federal Reserve System (Georgetown Law)

Almost all ceremonies will take place on Healy Lawn, just inside Georgetown’s front gate. In the event of severe weather, Healy Lawn ceremonies will be held at McDonough Arena on Georgetown’s main campus. See full schedule for more details.

To request credentials to cover Commencement on campus, members of the media must email media@georgetown.edu. Please specify if you will need a camera position.
Georgetown University is a private campus. Permission must be granted by the Georgetown University Office of Communications in advance.

- ADDITIONAL EVENTS: A ceremony for students at Georgetown University in Qatar will feature Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, South African minister for women, youth, and persons with disabilities, on May 9 and will be webcast from Doha.

Please expect extremely limited parking on and around campus. There is no reserved media parking. Any live broadcast should use Live-U type “backpacks;” satellite trucks will not be accommodated on campus.
