Georgetown University joins the nation, the District and our student and faculty community in celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month this May.
We invite community members to explore the “Celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander Cultures and Heritage at Georgetown” landing page, where you can find upcoming events, insightful resources and inspiring stories.
This month, in particular, we celebrate the many contributions of Georgetown’s AAPI community, including but not limited to:
- A range of academic programs and interdisciplinary efforts advance teaching and scholarship on AAPI heritage and culture, including the School of Foreign Service Asian Studies Program, Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures and others.
- Our student organizations, including the Asian American Student Association, Chinese Student Alliance, GU Jawani, Guzaarish, the Hong Kong Student Association, Taiwanese American Student Association and others, who intentionally create spaces for community and advocacy at our University and beyond.
- The Asian, Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAAPI) Employee Resource Group (ERG), organized to celebrate AAAPI staff and faculty and their distinct experiences and contribute to a more inclusive workplace environment. The ERG seeks to foster an environment in which AAPI voices are amplified through civic engagement, leadership cultivation and advocacy.
Looking to gather this month to recognize, learn about and amplify AAPI culture and achievements? All university community members are invited to view our list of events and celebrate AAAPI Heritage Month.
Thank you for joining us in honoring our incredible AAPI community this month and beyond.
