Title: Lauinger Library Renovation

Dear Lauinger Library Building Occupants,

We are writing to inform you of upcoming renovations in Lauinger Library. This project will expand the Pierce Reading Room on the third floor of the library, including creating a mix of informal study and small group collaboration rooms, as well as a new Digital Lab with a large format video wall for interactive learning and special events.

The work will occur in two phases:

Phase 1

Phase 1 work will relocate the Tech Services offices from the third floor to the former Woodstock Library on the lower level. Some construction noise may occur during work hours. The stairway that connects Lot 9 to Village A will be closed. Pedestrians traveling from lot 9 to Library Walk will either need to go up the steps next to Village A at Prospect St. or go around the east side of Lauinger Library.

Phase 1 begins Monday, August 12 and is expected to be completed in January 2025.

Phase 2

Phase 2 is the expansion and renovation of Pierce Reading Room. Pierce Reading Room will be unavailable for use throughout the duration of Phase 2.

Phase 2 is expected to begin in January 2025 and is anticipated to be completed in December 2025.

Impacts

Work hours will be 5 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday through Friday. Noisy interior work will start at 5 a.m. and will stop at 9 a.m. Noisy work outside the library will not begin until 9 a.m. Noisy work outside the library may be heard in nearby buildings.

Project updates will be posted on the Active Construction Website and Lauinger Library Renovations landing page as they become available. If you have any questions, please email construction@georgetown.edu.

Thank you for your patience as we undergo these renovations.

Sincerely,

Planning and Facilities Management
