Title: Mental Health, Wellness and Health Care Resources for Faculty and Staff

Dear Colleagues,

Now that the Fall semester is underway, I would like to remind you of mental health, wellness and health care resources that are available to students, faculty and staff.

Last week, students received a message outlining Georgetown’s well-being resources accessible in person or remotely via telehealth. In these difficult times, I encourage you to familiarize yourself with these resources to help direct students who may come to you in need. This information is also available on the Mental Health, Wellness and Health Care Resources page of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Resource Center.

In addition, Georgetown is committed to supporting faculty and staff through the pandemic. The Faculty and Staff Assistance Program (FSAP) remains open, free and available to help you by phone. Virtual appointments can be scheduled by emailing fsap@georgetown.edu; a staff member will contact you to find a time that will work for your schedule. The GUCares Employee Emergency Fund also provides support for COVID-19 disaster relief and other non-COVID-related needs, and was recently expanded to support Fall 2020 dependent care assistance.

The Office of Faculty & Staff Benefits Virtual Wellness page compiles information on wellness, telehealth, mental health support, mindfulness and meditation exercises and more. New events, opportunities and resources are shared monthly in the GUWellness newsletter. Finally, the Department of Human Resources COVID-19 Workplace Resources page outlines COVID-19 policies, programs and employment actions, as well as teleworking resources and opportunities for virtual learning. Additionally, Georgetown University-sponsored health plans offer faculty and staff comprehensive mental health coverage for more extensive support.

We are grateful to all of our faculty and staff who are working tirelessly to advance critical research and deliver a world-class education to students while adapting to the virtual learning environment. Please know that you are not alone, and Georgetown has resources available to support you.

Be well,

Charles DeSantis
Interim Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer
