Title: Traffic/Parking/GUTS Impacts on October 21-22

Dear Georgetown Community Members,

We are excited to host BellRinger, Georgetown’s bike ride to end cancer, supporting cancer research at Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center. Events are scheduled on campus this Friday, October 21, and Saturday, October 22. Riders will bike from Georgetown University for 25, 50, or up to 100 miles, ending in Frederick, Maryland.

As we welcome hundreds of community members and guests to Main Campus, there will be several on-campus parking impacts and road closures – please consider public transportation or commuting alternatives, if possible.

Georgetown University Transportation Shuttles (GUTS) Impacts

  • Friday, October 21: The GUTS bus turnaround will be closed. GUTS buses will run on their normal schedule from pick-up/drop-off locations on North Road (Rosslyn and Dupont routes), Tondorf Road next to Leo J. O’Donovan Dining Hall (Arlington and Downtown routes), and Prospect Street near Leo J. O’Donovan Dining Hall (Law Center route).
  • Saturday, October 22: The Downtown Campus shuttle will run on its normal schedule from pick-up/drop-off locations on North Road next to the Southwest Quad and Cooper Field.

Traffic / Parking Garage Impacts

  • Friday, October 21:
    • All day: North Road, Tondorf Road and the Prospect Street entrance will be closed for the relocation of the GUTS bus stops. You will still be able to access the Southwest Garage via Canal Road, and the Leavey Center Garage / Garage 4 (Hariri) via Reservoir Road. You will not be able to exit the Southwest Garage via the North Road exit.
    • After 4:30 p.m.: The outbound West Road lane to Canal Road will be closed. The exit and entrance to the Southwest Garage via Canal Road will still be open for those leaving or entering campus after 4:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, October 22
    • Until 10 a.m.: The Canal Road entrance and West Road will be closed to all non-BellRinger traffic. Community members can still access campus via the Reservoir Road entrance to East-West Road.
    • After 10 a.m.: The Canal Road entrance and West Road will be open. Community members can access Southwest Garage but we expect parking to be very limited until midday. Public parking will be available at the Leavey Center Garage.

Thank you for your understanding and support as we host this important community initiative to advance cancer research.

Sincerely,

Office of Transportation Management
