Title: University to Help Strengthen Paraguay’s Higher Ed Sector
Georgetown’s Center for Intercultural Education and Development (CIED) teams up with the Graduate School to implement a program designed to strengthen Paraguay’s higher education sector.
Aug. 25, 2016 – Georgetown’s Center for Intercultural Education and Development (CIED) is teaming up with the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences to implement a program designed to strengthen Paraguay’s higher education sector.
“CIED and the Graduate School are excited to partner with Paraguay’s Ministry of Education to carry out a collaborative assessment of the country’s higher education needs, as well as support Paraguayan efforts to build a research university and strengthen a national scholarship program,” explains Chantal Santelices, CIED’s director.
Funded in cooperation with the government of Paraguay, the project comprises several technical assistance projects aimed at developing and strengthening the quality of academic training, researchand services, and providing recommendations and tools for the management of the republic’s higher education institutions.
The project also includes developing recommendations and guidance to helpParaguay create new and more modern higher education information systems, launch a new research university and graduate school, and further strengthen a government-sponsored graduate-level study abroad scholarship program.
Norberto M. Grzywacz, dean of the Graduate School, will work on the project along with SFS professor Erick Langer and graduate students.
